The hearing is taking place behind closed doors at Ashworth Hospital on Merseyside. However, the proceedings arebeing relayed by video-link torelatives of the children killed by Brady and his accomplice Myra Hindley (inset). Hindley died in prison in 2002.

The discovery by researchers at University College London may lead to a revolutionary therapy that blocks the action and keeps tumours in one place. The researchers claim that it will be 'relatively easy' to stopthe 'chase and run' effect. Cancer claims more than 150,000 lives each year in theUK but study spokesman Professor Roberto Mayor said:‘Most deaths are not due to the formation of the primary tumour. ‘Instead people die from secondary tumours originatingfrom the first malignant cells, which are able to travel and colonise vital organs of the body such as the lungs or thebrain.’ He added: ‘This happens because the cells get healthy ones to follow them. Nobody knew how this happened, and now we believe we have uncovered it. ‘If that is the case it will be relatively easy to develop drugs that interfere with this interaction.’ The study, published in Nature Cell Biology, used two types of embryonic cells to simulate the roles of cancerous and healthy cells. David Cameron yesterday admitted he fears online porn could harm his children. The Prime Minister says he worries when any of his threechildren ‘grab hold of the iPad’ because they risk seeing obscene images. ‘The world has changed so fundamentally with the internetthat we’ve got some real threats there to our children and also from this appalling scourge of child pornography,’ he said. ‘We’ve got to take a lot of action.’ Mr Cameron is now pledging to‘put the heat’ on web firms, making them do more to remove illegal child abuse images and protect children from legal porn. At a summit tomorrow, ministers and charities will demand action from internet service providers. TalkTalk and BT announced at the weekend that customers trying to view child sex abusesites would be confronted witha pop-up warning. The ‘splash pages’ are aimed at deterring paedophiles such as Mark Bridger, who killed five-year-old April Jones after accessing sickening online material. Maria Miller, who is hosting the summit, is expected to askother operators to follow suit. The Culture Secretary said: ‘These firms have an enormous responsibility to make sure our children are protected in the best way possible. Tackling this problemis not easy when technology changes and adapts at such afast pace. ‘But I am determined to do all Ican – and to encourage industry to do all it can – to put an end to it. ‘I will say that things need to change, that enough is enough, and when I do my children will be at the forefront of my mind, as they always are.’ Mr Cameron said there was nodoubt that internet companies needed to do more on online pornography – the subject of a Daily Mail campaign. On the issue of child abuse images, he told Sky News: ‘I’mnot satisfied that internet companies do enough to help take them down. ‘That’s why we’re having thisround table in government with them to really put the heat on, [to ask them to] workwith the police, work with us so we can get these images off the internet and prosecutethose who put them there. ‘As a parent I worry, and I know people watching this programme worry massively, about what our children can get to see when they grab hold of our iPad or log on to the internet. ‘There we need to make more progress of this issue of explaining to everybody that we want to have better filters that parents can switch on to stop access to certain sites and material.’ Mr Cameron hailed the fact that web companies have pledged to introduce clean public wi-fi, so youngsters willnot be at risk of seeing porn at a Starbucks. His remarks came as a poll found a majority of the public were in favour of making search engines such as Google put automatic filters onadult sites. Fifty-four per cent believed the firms should no longer automatically provide links when people search for pornography sites. The YouGov survey of almost 1,900 people also found that women were strongly in favour of curbs on web porn.

Daughter, 18, cuts off her father's head after he raped her in their Papua New Guinea village home

Now residents of the village have formed a protective ringaround the 18-year-old, refusing to hand her over to the police because they agreed her 'evil' father deserved to die. A local church leader, Pastor Lucas Kumi from the village of Rang in the Western Highlands, said the entire community would refuse to allow the girl to be subjected to any official investigation.'The people and leaders in our area went and saw the headless body of the father after the girl reported the incident to them and explainedwhy she had killed her father,'said Pastor Kumi. He told the Post Courier newspaper that the father, in his mid-40s, raped his daughter when they were alone in their house after the mother and two other children from the family went to visit relatives for the night.'The father went to his daughter's room in the night and raped her repeatedly. 'The father wanted to rape hisdaughter again in the morning and that was when the young girl picked up the bush knife and chopped her father's head off,' said Pastor Kumi. 'We've all agreed that she is free to stay in the community because the father deserved to die. 'The daughter did what she did because of the trauma andthe evil actions of her father, so that is why we have all agreed that she remains in the community.' He said a ring of protection had been placed around the girl, who will be kept away from any official investigation.'The community have also agreed not to conduct any formal burial service for the father.' Crimes of rape, murder, suspected witch killings and prostitution are rife throughout Papua New Guinea and as a desperate attempt tostop the lawlessness the government recently re-introduced the death penalty for serious offences. But at the weekend the Post Courier reported the results of an investigation into child prostitution, a report, it said, that will 'make you cringe.' Children aged between 13 and16, said the paper, were selling sex in the nightclubs ofthe capital, Port Moresby, fivepremises being reported to beengaged in the under-age prostitution trade. Three non-government organisations have produced a report based on interviews with no less than 175 child sex workers. 'It's true - our girls, and especial school girls, are being bought and sold for sex,' said one of the investigators.
